Cold ironing consists in providing shoreside electrical power to a ship at berth. Cold ironing is the greenest way for ports to contribute to reducing shipping industry emissions. By simply turning off their engines and plugging in to an electrical supply point in the port, ships can reduce their emissions or even stop them completely.
